Writing and Choosing Songs for Worship -  Saturday 7th November, Orwell Church, Ipswich

Songs are vital - for uniting the church, building up the body and glorifying God. But often we struggle to find songs which are accessible to our congregations, or cover specific topics. That is why the Music and Worship Foundation, and RESOUNDworship.org are thrilled to present two events in one:

Writing Songs for Worship 10am - 1pm, and

Choosing Songs for Worship 2pm - 5pm

led by RESOUNDworship.org leaders Sam Hargreaves and Matt Osgood

Programme

10.00am - 1.00pm

Writing Songs - for Songwriters wanting to hone their craft of producing material for the local church. Will include input on:
Theology - Why write new songs?
Critique - What makes a great worship song?
Skills - writing lyrics, writing melodies and chords
Plus opportunity for some people to share their material for group critique and encouragement.

2.00pm - 5.00pm

Choosing Songs - for anyone who wants to find and introduce a breadth of new material. Including:
Where to find a wide variety of new songs/hymns
Choosing and assessing repertoire
Putting together a set of songs from a variety of sources for worship
Plus practical skills on how to teach and introduce new songs for a congregation, and a time of worship and prayer.
