A New Song Community Choir

Dates for Summer 2017 - Why not join us?

Sing with one of Ipswich's newest community choirs. Whether you've been singing for years, or never sung before you'll enjoy music old and new, from pop and gospel to classical, world music to folk songs. An informal and fun community, relaxed but challenging and rewarding - open to everyone - no experience necessary! We don't ask anyone to sing solo, there are absolutely no auditions and we don't mind if you can't read music. In fact, quite often we don't even use music, so not reading it can be an advantage!

We especially would love more men to join us - you will receive an extra warm welcome.

Workshops, performances at local venues and social events during the year. Watch for details.

Rehearsals are around twice a month (bank holidays permitting) on Mondays from 8pm to 9:45pm - just come whenever you can. Dates are below.  We don't make any charge, but donations for refreshments in the break are always welcome.

Upcoming Concerts/Performances

Once again we are joining with the Saxceptional saxophone ensemble and the amazing Ipswich MU Big Band for a concert on Monday 3rd July at 7pm.  As always it promises to be a great occasion.

Events so far in 2017

We sang against at Gressland Court on a sunny Sunday afternoon in April, with songs ranging from Lean on Me, to Total Praise.

Concerts in 2016

In 2016 we have performed with the Adastral Park Singers at the East Anglian Children's Hospice (EACH) Treehouse volunteers event, and with the Saxceptional Saxophone ensemble in our annual outing where the choir excelled themselves, leaving the audience wowed with their rendition of "Total Praise". We also raised £874.57 (which adds up to £1025.57 when the gift aid tax refund is taken into account) for Samaritan's Purse Raising Families initiative.

Then in December we joined EACH again for their carol service at St John's Church Woodbridge, held our annual carol concert with Saxceptional, and a few of us were able to sing at the Candlelit carol service at Burlington Baptist (some even played in the orchestra!).

Christmas 2015

We were fortunate to be invited to sing once again at the EACH Carol Service in Woodbridge where I think we are safe in saying our rendition of Jingle Bells was again a highlight.  We also sang Alan Bullard's lovely Scots Nativity and the choir did a magnificent job of John Gardner's "Tomorrow Shall Be My Dancing Day"

Concerts in 2014

What a great time we had on Monday 30th June 2014 for our first concert with Saxceptional and the Ipswich Musician's Union Big Band. Together we raised over £700 for Samaritan's Purse's Raising Families initiative.  You may have heard of Samaritan's Purse more recently in the news too, as two of their doctors were at the forefront of the Ebola epidemic in Africa.

Then later in the year we sang at the St Elizabeth's Hospice awards and thank-you afternoon at Trinity Park. Finally we sang for the first time at East Anglian Children's Hospice (EACH) Carol Service in Woodbridge where we first performed our famous rendition of Jingle Bells which has become a firm favourite ever since.  We rounded of Christmas with Carol Singing with Saxceptional around the neighbourhood of Burlington Baptist Church where we rehearse.
