Cracking Christmas

Advent & Christmas Preaching Series 2006

The release of The Da Vinci Code as a film this year reminded us that truth can so easily get muddled with tradition.  Was Jesus born in a stable?  Did Mary ride on a donkey?  Were there three Wise Men?  Did they travel on camels?  Was Bethlehem a quiet peaceful place?  Was Jesus born in December?  The answer to all these questions is either “no” or, at best, “we don’t know!”

Over these Advent Sundays we want to push aside tradition and let the truth shine as brightly as that Bethlehem star.  This truth, which is far more engaging than any tradition, is life-changing and, literally, world transforming.  Have you cracked it?  Have you discovered the truth from the tradition?  If you have, it will be “good news of great joy!”  (Luke 2:11)
